Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Graduate Degree is the minimum qualification required to apply for the Civil Services Examination. Final Year aspirants are also eligible to apply. Aspirant’s age must be between 21 to 30 years as on August 1 of the year of exam.

Procedure to Become IAS Officer:

Step 1:

To Apply for IAS Officer, First of all candidates must fill an application form for the Civil Services Exam. After filling the application form aspirants need to send it to the address given in the information Brochure. Candidates may purchase it from any of the Head Office or post office throughout the country.

Step 2:

In the month of May/June, applicants have to give Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) consisting of two papers and the format of this exam is objective type. Papers are:

Paper II Comprehension and Logical Reasoning 200 2 hrs.

Step 3:

Candidates who will qualify the CSAT exam will be required to give the Main Examination. Main Exam is of Descriptive Type and comprises of:

One English Qualifying Paper 300
One General Essay type paper 200
Two General Studies papers 300
Four Optional subjects papers 300

Step 4:

Final selection is carried out on the basis of performance in Personal Interview and general interest questions can be asked. Candidates will have to go for a Medical Test also. After selection, the contenders are required to undergo compulsory foundation training.
